2014 Wind Gap Woodruff Pinot Noir
Located just outside the town of Coralitos, this 9-acre site was planted in 1978 to Pinot Noir & Chardonnay. Called Matteson Vineyard and then Ciardella Vineyard throughout the multiple ownership changes, the vineyard was purchased & renamed Woodruff in 2003. The Woodruff’s sold in 2015 and the current owner is dedicated to continue the stewardship of these vines. Dry farmed and organic from day one, this site epitomizes the Santa Cruz Mountains.
Delicate light red fruits of tiny strawberries and rhubarb carry through from the nose to the palate. Floral and delicate, this is a Pinot Noir lovers dream, no oak or alcohol to cloak the lively fresh fruit aromas of the Pinot Noir grape grown in sandy mountain soils.
