Another surprise is the 2009 Agharta Cataclysm, a white Rhone blend from Alder Springs Vineyard in northern Mendocino County. The very same block of white Rhones that I helped plant and have been working with since it started producing grapes in 2005. The 2009 distills those years of experience down to the finest example we have put together yet. Mostly Marsanne (43%) balanced out with some Viognier (33%)and Rousanne (24%), this wine is rich enough for decadent seafood dinners and supple and exotic enough for sipping while preparing that dinner.

Tasting Note:
A hazy deep golden appearance in the glass is the first hint that this is something unique. The aromas confirm just that with a honeyed, marzipan and white flower display of richness while the pear pit, lychee and apple blossom indicate some freshness and lightness. In the mouth richly textured with sweet pears, fruit cocktail and honey that lingers until the spicy white fruit and fig flavors tighten up the sweetness and add a tangy grip of grape tannins and peach marmalade. Exotic and voluptuous while being bone dry and dense the wine benefits from air and is built to age effortlessly for many years and continue to develop and become even more exotic in the bottle.

Decant 20-30 minutes before serving.
