Old-Vines, Carbonic Maceration in concrete and aging in concrete create a blend of intensity and electricity. Explosive aromas of Blackberry liquer, cinnamon, summer fruits, white flowers and violets drive the aromas of this lively red wine. Serve chilled to get the most of its personality.
Once again these 100+ year old-vines have produced another stunning Grenache. Clean red & black fruit and firm construction keep this one just as detailed as previous vintages, just with a little something extra.
Boon-dog-gle (n.) is a project that is considered to waste time and money, yet is often continued due to extraneous motivations.
Time to release part three of our Boondoggle. Medium bodied with big spicy tannin and sweet Rose laden fruit this 100% Nebbiolo has a nervous energy that keeps it lively and assertive on your tongue.
While warmer vintages in California can sometimes mean that the wines are too big and too ripe for their own good, when that comes to our cold coastal vineyards that we pull from for this wine, it just means that the wine is that much more complete and complex. These vineyards work in unison to create a cohesive and complete wine that has smoke elements form the Griffins Lair Vineyard, crystalline fruit from Sun Chase and density and purity from Gaps Crown. Not to mention the brilliant spice from Black Knight and the concentrated and lively fruit from Spring Hill.
The nose is a foresty mix of tiny red berries, earth, spice, mint and leather. Densely packed and precise, this wine smells like a very classy Pinot Noir from the motherland. All about purity and restraint… this is a real classic.
Powerful and concentrated enough to let you know it is from the new world, but silky, delicate and graceful enough to make you second-guess that call. Steep volcanic soil covered slopes give the wine it’s transparency and cut. 2015 gives the wine more density and concentration and makes for one very impressive bottle of Pinot Noir.
Literally just above Gap’s Crown, The Sun Chase Vineyard is higher and more exposed to the wind and sun, so the fruit is more pronounced and intense. Darker in the glass and more flamboyant, this is a decadent and delicious Pinot Noir without being syrupy or over the top.
The concentration from the high quality fruit is obvious and the finesse and purity couldn’t be more pronounced or clear. This is a complete and sophisticated Pinot Noir that improves in the glass.
Medium weight and light on its feet, this wine is all about verve and spice. The fruit is soft and delicate, and takes a back seat to the umami-filled, mineral-driven, savory Syrah flavors. Very exotic and intriguing with a haunting quality to it…very special stuff! $45
"There is a wild, feral quality to the Armagh that I find especially appealing. Dense and powerful, but in the classic Wind Gap style, the 2014 Armagh is fabulous today." 94pts. -Antonio Galloni, © Vinous, January 2016
